Cuyahoga Valley Planning News2006-07-24 20:56 Etc/GMT+4 From the Ohio Canal Summer 06 Newsletter Walworth Run - The Next Branch for the Towpath Trail? It was back in 1996 when Ohio Canal Corridor led a planning charette in the ClarkMetro neighborhood that looked for a new vision for Train Avenue. The daylong event was one of a half-dozen plans that were hatched throughout the city. Others included a new park in Tremont where West 7 Street and West 10 Street merge along Railway Avenue and a park honoring surveyors in the Warehouse District between West 6 Street and West 9 Street/ just south of the Shoreway Ramp. The exercises culminated in a booklet titled: Green Spaces/People Places and was a component of the Lila Wallace/ Reader’s Digest funded park initiative under the direction of ParkWorks. opportunities and constraintsThis map took a long time to finish. It involved going back to the site and walking the trailway with more attention to be sure we noted every bridge that would need to be constructed and how large and every step or ramp that we needed. Plus, I learned how to use publisher to put all the symbols and text on the original scanned drawing. By Anne Swanson at 2006-07-04 20:54 | 327 reads
trailwayThis is the proposed trailway for the Los Llanos-Santa Elena communities. At first we were not sure if we could keep the trail all on one side of the road, but we found out from the Municipality that there is a 13 m right of way. This allows us to keep the trail all on one side of the road and the Municipality will need to enforce the movement of some fence lines so there is ample space for a trail. The cool news is that at the end of our week of corrections after we made our rough presentations to the community, they asked for our maps because they were getting a backhoe and were going to start the trail. Post #4 from Monteverde, Costa Rica-- June 30, 2006I apologize for not posting earlier, the last two weeks have been very busy with course work. The project that I am working on required going out to our site several times--several times because the weather would not cooperate again. The first day we tried to survey the area, a thick fog rolled in. The kind of fog that is in scarey movies. The second day we tried to do our survey it started raining after we got to the site. We did our survey anyway but got soaked. Things are different here, not only because we are in a foreign country, but we dont have the luxury of a car that is easily available to us. So we end up doing a lot of walking and our site surveys take the better part of the day to finish. By Anne Swanson at 2006-07-04 20:39 | Anne Swanson's blog | read more | 825 reads
